Meet Olya

A wife and mom of 2 beautiful souls by day and an ICU nurse by night! I’ve been taking care of A LOT of VERY sick people for over a decade and what keeps me up at night (true story) is the question of HOW do people get this sick? Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated by the human body and its intelligent design.

From a young age, I’d play doctor, study laminated human anatomy pages in every variety, and pour over physiology textbooks. That led me to a bachelor’s degree in Nursing because I wanted to HELP people. Then…it led me to a Master of Science Degree in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety to improve HOW we help people.

My own health journey had its unique turns as six months into my career as a nurse I was told I’d better start thinking of a different career path. Suddenly my hands were swollen and raw with oozing blisters that constantly burned. To continue taking care of patients I had to use very strong steroid creams to get the inflammation to subside. What began as a pursuit to heal my hands continued to a holistic journey where I confronted my symptoms of brain fog, a slow metabolism, poor thermoregulation, low heart rate, and trouble word finding.

Some protocols and lifestyle changes of my past include GAPS, paleo, lectin-free, UV therapy, dairy and gluten-free for over 5 years, vitamin supplementation, juicing, regular vigorous exercise, coffee enemas, intermittent fasting, pro-metabolic, amalgam filling removal, and mercury chelation using the ACC method. When I believed I had arrived at the climax of health I was thrust to face new difficulties and confront my children’s health challenges of open-heart surgery, mouth breathing, adenoid removal, tonsillectomy, and my husband’s chronic fatigue.

My approach to healing has drastically changed over the years as I began to view health as a whole made up of parts that increase a person’s biological energy and vitality, rather than a diet to be followed or trigger-food to be avoided. Energy maintains our bodies because all repair processes within our body require energy. While working in the ICU, I see mainly crises of acute events overlying chronic illness (energy depletion). Many patients are in their final days of life. While it can be a very sad place, I am encouraged by the lessons I can take home. Our health choices TODAY matter. We often laugh off the importance of preventative medicine but as we learn to utilize some foundational principles of mineral balancing, nutrition, sleep, movement, relationships, environmental toxins and stress management, we can achieve great success in optimizing our biological energy.
